I was going to suggest two things, actually, both of which complicate
things a touch.

The keys were one of them, and the other one was allowing scrolling a
field at a time (which really amounts to overlapping the layouts, but
I suppose you could assemble the formats in real time), and tagging the
ends of the label line with < or >, depending on which way you could
scroll.

I rarely come up with a scroll where I need more fields than will fit,
but if you have one, this code is Damn Nifty.  :-)
