Use runmenu menuname instead of p menuname, and replace runmenu.exe with one
from early 5.0, like 5.0.6 or so.
Not sure exactly how old the runmenu has to be. You can even use one from
4.8.
Inside menus to call other menus, use !menuname instead of either p or
runmenu
Or just remove p.exe and copy the old runmenu.exe to p.exe and don't change
any code or batch files.
I don't feel bad helping thwart fp's wishes in this case because in the past
I've described a legitimate grievance with the new mandatory splash, where
the splash introduced an unreasonable & unacceptable degradation in
useability for the end user and an unreasonable & unacceptable burden for us
to work around it, and the answer was "tough".
So if I'm left to fend for myself then I reject any complaints just because
I manage to be effective at it.
For the record, (again), if the splash only appeared once at the beginning
we would have had no problem. We don't begrudge them that much.
But in our case it appeared constantly because we had a lot of menu choices
and system calls that say "p menuname". Some kind of shared memory scheme
could get around that. FacetWin does it.
Further, it's become moot for us because by now we just don't have hardly
any windows installs out there any more and that was actually a small but
contributing factor. They advertized themselves right out of a market. Right
into another, since all the same users simply use the same number of unix
licenses somewhere else, so it doesn't hurt fp. I'm just pointing out that
BS like that does have real world effects and it's just silly.
