Hotmail *IS* owned by Microsoft so it's natural that they will
attempt to push Microsoft's proprietary ``enhancements''.

One might also think that Microsoft's support of the U.S.
``CAN-SPAM'' laws, which was supported by the Direct Marketing
Assoctian, and other mainsleaze spammers would be suspicious.

Microsoft wants to control spam sent to their customers to be
sure that it's been sent by them or others who've paid M$ for the
priviledge of spamming them.
