On the other hand, Mark Twain said that anybody who could only spell a word
one way lacked imagination :-).

Tell that to the so-called literate book reviewers who refer to a book as
``a good read''.
My favorite, brought to mind by the whining from the blue states, was the
description, in Anne Fairbairne's book ``That Man Cartwright'', of the
Limousine Liberal intellectual as ``educated beyond her intelligence''.

It is practically impossible to teach good programming style to
students that have had prior exposure to BASIC: as potential
programmers they are mentally mutilated beyond hope of
regeneration.
