Windows XP Tablet PC OPS

Windows XP Tablet Edition is simply XP with some added features. I have
been using a Tablet PC (Toshiba) for two years, and have found nothing
that it couldn't run, that would otherwise run on XP.

Some of the differences include:

1) Ability to rotate the screen into "portrait mode".

2) Built-in wireless support.

3) Integrated voice recognition.

4) Ability to write on screen with an included stylus, for programs that
enable that.

5) On-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition area.

6) Some units do NOT have a CD drive. That's the only downside that I know
of (besides the price).

7) A really nice feature is Windows Journal, which is sort of like an
on-screen notebook that you can write on. It includes a printer driver.
This means you can "print" to Journal with any program, then view, notate,
store, and print the results.

I have done some work to make Anzio work well with tablets. First I
checked to make sure that screen rotation worked OK; it did. I added
commands to rotate the screen. I made the Print Preview feature allow
notating the first page of printouts.

I have not gotten in to making handwritten notes in committee meetings;
not sure why. I do really like, though, the ability to doodle on-screen
when hooked to a video projector. This can be an alternative to
"white-boarding".

In summary, I think the Tablet is a great platform for portability,
especially in some niche areas, such as survey-taking, doctors in clinics,
and various fill-in-the-blanks applications.
