It doesn't really require IE. I use it without any browser. It's just that
the fully automated on-the-fly download & install requires IE or maybe just
activeX. If you want you can install the client manually and then use a
special form of URL right from the run prompt or command line or saved in a
shortcut that never involves IE. The special url launches the ivocalize
client directly. What it does require is Windows.

Here are the manual directions:

Install this: http://www.talkingcommunities.com/client3/iVocalizeClient3.exe

access the fp room using this wrong-looking-but-trust-me url:

ivocalize3://server=209.173.24.17:9000&room=The_FP_Room&user=BrianWhite&pass=&&/

Replace "BrianWhite" with whatever you want to call yourself
don't use the url in IE's address bar, use it for a com promp or the
start->run dialog, or make a shortcut on your desk and paste in the url in
place of the target where you would normally put the path to an executable
file + arguments.
(well, you can do it in the IE address bar, It'll work there too)

Me too.
Besides I thought they answered odd cases like this a long time ago with
virtualpc?
