Yes, it can be done... MAC, Linux and Windows... but only in the near
future... the iVocalize.com site should be better named the iVaporize
site... (thanks JP, very good...). Truly, that stuff is _still_ beta for the
world at large. Talkingcommunities will provide us with this software when
it really becomes available.

In the meantime. If you are absolutely dead against using IE, there is a
workaround. I've mentioned it before to an extent, but here is the whole
deal. Again, the only thing Active-X is used for in this situation is to
sense whether the iVocalize software is in place and if not, bring up the
download stuff. It is not used at all inside the iVocalize client.

I will put up a link (below) that will allow anyone to download the
iVocalize client directly using any browser you like. Once the client is
loaded and installed on your computer. The ivocalize3 protocol can be used
to get directly into the room without _any_ browser. It can either be done
from the Run widget or put into a desktop shortcut.

This room has been up and working great for a year. It is a personal
decision of each user not to deign to use MS Internet Explorer even just for
the simple task of downloading the client. That kind of zealousness does not
prompt me to want to go out of my way to help. Sorry. If that makes the same
kind of zealot unhappy, so be it. No offense, but it is _their_ problem, not
mine. I have provided all the tools necessary to join and access this room.
Many, many folks have used them, come in, and it has just been a wonderful
experience for everyone. I can't be expected to pick up on your prejudices
and aid you in promulgating them. I do not hold your beliefs. To hear people
make fun of MS and put everything about their products down is something
that really bothers me. but I don't say much, I just let it go. However,
don't ask me to help you in this regard. AS for putting down Bill Gates,
that _really_ bothers me, because Bill and I are friends. He is a very nice
man and I am going to defend him just as I would anyone else I consider a
friend. If someone were to say Bill Campbell is a jerk, I would be all over
them in the same way I am when I hear people take their frustrations out on
Bill G. It is just so petty and plain stupid. You all can deal with it, I
don't have to... enough is enough. I'm sure I could find someone somewhere
who thinks Celestial Software products suck, too. I would rail against that
as well, even though I can't truly speak for how Bill C. runs things there
at Celestial... I would just simply defend him and his company because I
know Bill C. to be a really good guy and that's that. I feel the same and
more for Bill G. and Microsoft, so as far as all this sh*t about MS, please
just leave it somewhere else... please? Thank you for the simple
consideration any of you would expect for yourselves and your companies. If
you've got legitimate complaints, info, etc., about some MS product, fine...
deal with it OT, great... but the Evil Empire stuff... let's leave that for
the bush league, okay?

Now, here is the link to download the iVocalize3 client. Get it, install
it... then to get to the room without using any browser, use the second
protocol line either in a shortcut or from the Run widget. That is all I'm
willing to do for the hate-group-zealots. It's more than most would do.
Remember, I am not FP Technologies... I am just an individual. Bill C., I
know you will not use anything MS, it is your thing, that's fine... I still
love you... :-) I hope nothing ever changes between us. Unfortunately, you
will just have to wait a month or so until the Linux stuff becomes
available. Sorry... but there is nothing I can do about this.

Meanwhile:

To download the client directly without Active-X involved...

http://www.talkingcommunities.com/client3/iVocalizeClient3.exe

Once downloaded and installed... run the following to get to the room.

ivocalize3://server=209.173.24.17&room=The_FP_Room&pass=

If you have trouble... again, you can call (570) 384-2444 until Monday
morning... from about 11am Monday, call 800-486-3987 xt 276. Tuesday, I'll
be in Florida and pretty unreachable.

For those of you who use Internet Explorer regularly, just go to the
following link and it will begin the download process for you automatically.
If you're using the XP SP2 platform, you may be prompted to allow the
download... Remember, post here, or call if you have problems.
