>From what I've read [and listend to the NPR report] the plant may
reopen.  It is in Chapter 11.   The talk is to reopen and only
make sizes in demand.  There are people at the plant shipping what
they have already made according to reports on rec.audio.pro.

A lot of archivists use analog tape, as any analog medium tends
to be recoverable even in degraded mode, where digital storage
gets to a point where nothing it retreivable. That's almost the
digital paradign - you get it all or you get nothing.

I suspect at least someone will be filling what has become a niche
market.
