List Postings

I would like to make a proposition to the list that we try to keep the
threads on point.

Watching some of the recent postings disintegrate into nonsense, has
made it clear that many on the list either type too fast, lack
entertainment or don't have enough work to do. Not sure which it is,
but limited time has always helped me keep my postings in check.

I propose that if the posting is a request for information on filePro
that every effort be made to help the poster, before anyone posts an
off-topic response, snide comment or otherwise send the thread into the
toilet.

I also propose that if the posting is not related to filePro in any way
or not clearly marked as OT or ADV, that the poster be drawn and
quartered or in the very least be open to flaming like none has seen before.

I think this simply states the rules or at least the common law rules on
this list but I had the nerve to put it in writing.

So let's try to get back to the purpose of the list and stop the
discussions of "politics", "football", "music", etc.

If you find you really need to post on those topics, add a filePro TIP
of some kind to the posting and all is forgiven. It is a challenge to
all the posters, it might actually start some discussion on filePro
programming (what an idea?)

Now, let the flames begin, because I know this will start a huge flurry
of responses by certain members - you know who you are - keep the
entertainment coming. The lurkers enjoy the flame wars and I am not
feeling the programming I really should be doing instead of this.

To all my flaming friends on the list - let it rip.

filePro TIP EDIT to change phone number into just numbers (machine form)
  unphone: {!"-"!|!"("!|!")"!|!" "!|*}
