We just started using Lightmail from Fairlight and because it is filePro
dependent I thought it would be appropriate to let you know my experiences
with it. Lightmail facilitates the execution of e-mail.
I just wanted to express my delight with Lightmail from Fairlight. The
beauty of this utility is that it allows me to control its operation and
execution from filePro processing.
It is so simple to set up (after we worked out some glitches unique to AIX).
You are able to control every aspect that one could ask for, but its real
power comes from FilePro.
There is a browse lookup of names in order to access e-mail addresses which
is powered by filePro. The attachment utility is great. We keep a list of
different types of automated reports. The user has only to pick the report
from a popup list and it populates the field with the directory location.
Once executed it allows the user to reconfirm that the attachment is correct
by viewing it prior to being sent. If incorrect it starts over again. If
correct the e-mail is sent on its way.
Our utility also provides a popup list for the subject section. Once chosen
it populates the field with the correct subject message and after execution
it puts a comment in a record if directed to do so from filePro processing.
We just implemented its use today and we are already thinking of new
embellishments. Lightmail would not have been effective for us unless
controlled by filePro.
Lastly, I must say that Mark hung in to try to solve our unique AIX problem
which involved user permissions. The problem was finally solved by using the
flexibility of filePro.
I don't understand why everyone does not use this great utility called
Lightmail. Perhaps even be added to filePro when initially sold.
