Exceeded User Count

That's good Joe, and not so stupid of a question, however I have
participated in training the system administrator on the site. He's been
running SCO for over 12 years. I've requested that he run fsck to make
certain he has a fresh utmp log. I've also asked him to make certain to
exit any fp screens and menus with the fp exit and not the delete key, as
I've read that an ftp session is not using hup when using the delete key,
and may accumulate user counts.

Thanks Joe for your thoughts, and I'll pass this on to the sys admin.as a
reminder that there are no stupid questions...only stupid answers ...

It's not easy being green.

stupid question - do you know for sure that they really shut down?

i am reminded of about a month ago with a client of mine - they are
space-challenged at the moment and they had an entry clerk working on
the unix console. she said her "terminal" was "locked up" and she rebooted
her "PC" several times before calling our office but nothing helped.

well, it turned out she must have hit some keys and must have gone
<Alt><Fsomething> to some non-active console login.

the "rebooting"? she powered off/on the console vga monitor.
