Just curious, what version of FP are they running?

I had a problem with 4.8.10, or was it .12 , at a client site. After doing the
upgrade, the system slowed down. Outputs with select processing which took
under 3 minutes to select records from a 250,000 record file was taking over 1/2
hour and printing even slower. I ended up running the reports using 4.8.3's
rreport in stead on the 4.8.10 one.

The upgrade to 5.0 fixed the problem.
