PRINTING FROM XP

Thank you to all that responded. As I am not on a network it appears that
putting
"WIN: HP LaserJet 4L " in the destination file worked. Of course since I
was involved it was not as easy as all that because at my age when I looked
at the printers section it appeared that there was a space between Laser
and Jet when there was not....Panic...., but a nights rest solved that problem.
I also followed the suggestion to download drivers for the HP printer from
HP instead of relying on the drivers that came with XP. Must be my
imagination, but that seemed to improve things even when I didn't have the
destination file defined correctly! I guess that shows the calming
influence of knowing that there are kind people willing to help.
I intend to check out Jose Lerebours advice as to setting up the printer in
a network shortly and appreciated his advice telling me how to find my
computers name. To think I have been working with computers for a number of
years without knowing their names!
Thanks again!
