I've always thought they were more trouble than they're worth.

If a customer modifies something and blows it, it's more billable
work to fix it.

I've never worried about customers reselling their custum systems.
If they were competent to sell and support them, they probably
wouldn't be coming to us in the first place.

It's one of those things that could cause me legal grief if the
customer's one of the litigation happy folks who could use that
as something to beat me over the head.
