filepro CD - map project update

Thanks all for your input on filepro and maps. We actually have got a mapping program, and I'm being provided the data that should feed the mapping program for plotting. The map portion seems wrapped up, and luckily another person is in charge of that -- I just need to provide the data for plotting and data for the corresponding index. I'm expecting the data files sometime this week.

This is a project for my magazine client - we will be including the printed atlas in our April issue to all readers for free. We plan on making money on the compliment CD that will have detailed address locations (not provided in the free atlas), searchable and exportable/printable for labels, etc. These are quarry locations, divided by the types of aggregate they mine and sell.

I will be importing the data into filepro, of course.

I'll be looking for someone that wants to produce the CD in a GUI format for us. I'd like to use filepro, but haven't checked into any licensing costs, etc. yet. The CD will only be data, no graphical maps involved.

If anyone out there is interested in helping with developing the GUI interface and/or produce the CDs as part of their business, kindly reply to me at linda at hapner.com. The project done previously by a competitor sold around 700 cd's, so we are probably anticipating selling 1,000 cds.

I'll probably be asked to provide the same interface on our website -- paid access of course.

This has big potential if done right.

Thank you
