There are other Address Matching Engines available to Not only the
Filepro community but to darn near all platforms.
See WWW.AESCASS.COM. I am the VP for Sales & New Product Development.
You can contact me on, or off list, as you wish.
As an aside, and for historical value, Filepro has been at the leading
edge of Address Matching Technology for over 25 years!
Way-Way back in the early 1980's Bob Snapp made his first effort in
producing an Address Matching engine by responding
to a customers request "Can't you make this thing look up Zip Codes?"
From that request came a program called LZIP
for Local-Zip. Since we were working on a Tandy 6000, and hard drive
space was at a premium, we only had the Cincinnati
Ohio area in the database. The database was HAND COMPILED since the US
Post Office had not begun their efforts in
Address Quality yet. After LZIP got a toe-hold, we started on the Next
Generation of Address Matching which was
the entire United States. Fortunatly the USPS had the Carrier Route
tapes available. They came on 16 rolls of 9 track
Mag Tape. At the time the USPS did not want the rolls of tape back!
All of this effort was done in Filepro since it has such a short
development cycle. Much faster to produce & debug than
'C'.
The AESCASS engine is not written in C, but I do use Filepro for
Integration Prototyping, Quality Assurance, and all the
various office tasks that befall a small business.
If your mailing requirements include mailing to Puerto Rico, the AESCASS
engine is superior in that domain as we have done
significant research and development for that area alone. Our CASS
scores with the USPS reflect this fact.
I have also used Filepro Exclusivly in my 30+ years of commercial
printing and mailing. I would not be here without
the aid of Filepro. It has been a trusted resource that has proven
itself over and over again.
If you are interested, we have special pricing for VAR's.
Happy Coding!
