I think your biggest problem is going to be the wireless router, not XP. 
Have you checked its speed compared with the 100 mbps of the hard wire? 
The only one I have seen and replaced was running 12 mbps. That speed 
will make filepro crawl--Behold a new fad that is a 10 year step 
backward in network speed-- It will give you lots of time to drink 
coffee, take a break, eat lunch, get your car washed and about anything 
else you might want to do while you are waiting.

I think your above pfdata causes fp to look past that file for filepro

Are you using a batch file to run filePro?

path=G;G:\fp;G:\filepro
set pfdsk=G
set pfdata=G:
set pfprog=G:

if your filepro files are in deputy, then,
set pfdir=\deputy

G:
P yourmenu

under properties of your batch file icon,
under the font tab, set 10x18, raster (this can vary depending on your 
monitor settings)
under the layout, set window and buffer sizes to 80 and 25.
