Been buying Brother 5140 printers since last year. $199 at Staples/Office Depot.
They seem to be working pretty good. They also sell a version with a
scanner/fax/docfeed glued on the top that uses the same drum/toner combo as the
5140. Not a single DOA, nor complaints like you might find on
http://reviews.cnet.com/Brother_HL_5140/4505-3155_7-30733007.html since we do
not do any duplexing.

The only issue we've had with them is we print a barcode (3of9) directly from
filepro code, and somehow it drops enough of the string to make it "look" like a
valid barcode, but it's not readable. So anywhere we need to print barcodes from
our app we still use HP printers.

Even the first toner is a full one. Nothing pissed me off a few years ago more
than printers that came with those 10% full cartridges. Well maybe when they
stopped including cables. Even more so it that every incremental model change
they have a new toner cartridge design. *astards. Now I am *issed.

I was having a pretty happy day especially after watching the shuttle crew video
removing the gap filler.

filePro & Brother 5140. Can't get much better for the price.
