Filepro 4.8 and Linux kernel 2.6

Yes, I believe the problem was that they somehow managed to break
compatibility with statically linked binaries (like filePro) by making
a change to the glibc interface.  This is something that static linking
is supposed to avoid.  As I recall, Ryan tracked it down to something
which is called by something which is called (...) by the getpwnam()
function.  Apparently, somewhere down the line, the static library
calls a dynamic library, and the interface to the dynamic library had
been changed.

Assuming that that's the cause of the problem here, then the only real
options are to either go back to RH8 (or some other compatible release),
or to upgrade filePro 5.0.09 (or maybe 5.0.10) or later.  filePro 4.8
is too old to run on this incompatible release of the O/S.
