Yes, I totally agree Tune-Up is really good... and yes, it is now Pacific
Code Works. Let's go one further and give them a real plug. Their number is
(831) 426-7582. They are in Santa Cruz, CA. Their product (at least for O/S
5) is sensational. It will test your system day by day and then suggest the
optimum way to set the kernel tunable (and do it for you if you direct it
to). Sure, it is "its" idea of optimum, but the logic is good and I believe
it is usually right. This is why it takes some days to make its first
suggestion, and after that it continues to compare your usage with its
suggestions. After a few months, your system can be running a lot faster and
tighter with their help.
They have very-good to excellent support... or just excellent. :-)
The product lets you see top system hogs among a host of other things.
Some [would] say the package is pricey... but I wouldn't. I'm sorry I don't
remember its cost. A call would find out.
One time this package helped me locate a long standing problem. Turned out
someone who appeared to be logged out (not in a "who" listing) was running
several filePro rclerks.... This lead to finding another problem which
solved the overall drag at that time... and showed me I had to take certain
measures regarding a new program I was implementing. Tune-Up was very
helpful in all of this.
Take care,
John Esak

I check these reports often.. and there is never any fail ... ever.
Besides, this is the sort of thing that Olympus Tune-Up reports on very well
when there is any kind of a problem, even those which haven't yet caused
fails.
Thanks.
John
I agree; I've had good success with Tune-Up. Just make a note that it's no
longer "Olympus"; it's "Pacific Code Works."
