FreeBSD 5.3 [not 5.13] is not considered STABLE at this moment.
It is expected to be so in the next 2-3 weeks at the latest.
The majority of the adviced given in the FreeBSD NGs is to
use 4.10 RELEASE if you are in a production environment.
If you need the 5.x at least wait until 5.3 hits RELEASE status
and becomes the STABLE version. It should be soon now.
I beleive the code-freeze in is in effect on the 5.3 now so that
means that only bugs are going to be fixed with no other changes
until the release date.
