In FreeBSD the term setting is scoansi - however the
cm value you have above is the same as in the scoansi.

The arguments to cm are to move to row and then column.

Have you tried the lowest level of term - vt100.  That's supported
in FP.  If you haven't tried that it may be worth a shot.

If you can sacrafice the Open machine it should take about 2-3
hours [unless you have a slow link] to bring BSD up via a network
install.  Or if you have anything else with at least a little bit
of power.
