| I am trying to move filePro files from a system that is around 8 years
| old (Windows 98) to a new portable computer (Windows XP professional).
| The version of filePro on the new system is 5.#. I do not know the
| version on the older system but it is at least a few years old.
|
| My first hope was LapLink (Gold 11.5) but the old computer does not
| have USB ports.
|
| I have tried creating a file on the new computer with the name of the
| file to be sent over. I put one field in the file definition with a
| length of 10 characters. Then I e-mailed all the files from the old
| system and saved them to the new file just described. All the files
| got mailed and put into the new directory. The screen works, the
| processing seems to be okay. The map file is there in three forms 1.
| a readable text file, 2. a tmp file that is not readable by windows,
| 3. another file named map that is unreadable by windows.
|
| When I go to the file definition the only thing there is the single
| field I created just to make the file available.
Why wouldn't XP's File Transfer Wizard have done the job?
