sco unix, rclerk, 5.0.13R4

1.   make 10 fields label them   S1) State         (2,state)
     
2.   make 10 fields, label them  S2) State         (2,state)
OR
      make 10 fields, label them  T1) State          (2,state)

3.   input data in all or some of the top 10
      input data in all or some of the bottom 10

NJ   NY  PA  CT  ME  NH  VT  DE  RI
CA  OR  WA NV  NM  WY  TX

4.  Build an index    S1   &  S2
                    OR       S1  &  T1

either way, with S2, or T1 as the second criteria , I can't get it to find CT to TX.
when i lookup via the index. i get a blank record, or in some testing, 
a completely wrong match,  where the only two states were  TX  to CA for
instance.
