I guess you haven't seen the 6.0 features list?  (Remember, there is
virtually no difference between Windows' UNC names, and *nix's path
names, and filePro already uses that under *nix.)

You're assuming that the owner of the lock is available to filePro.  (Yes,
on some systems, it may be available, but not in a portable manner.  And,
AFAIK, it's not available at all under Windows.)

What makes you think that filePro stays around if it gets a SIGHUP?

wait to see a 6.0 features list before making further comments.  ;-)
