Ah-Ha! VP-DBPublisher recipe. Doing that about 4 times a week right now.
We have fields that import that are wider than 255 characters, so I
finally ended up using Access as a bridge.
I export the text file from filePro.
I import into Access, making sure that the fields that are wider than
255 characters are defined as MEMO in the import
Change the width of the other fields inside access to be what's needed.
Export table as DBaseV format. It'll make proper dbase5 memo fields.
Run your recipe as needed...
High-Level fpODBC cannot deal ODBC sources with fields wider than 255
characters so you can't store wide data in a SQL server and call the
recipe using SQL directly.
There is a mailing list with several people who use DBPublisher with
Ventura all the time... you might want to subscribe. It also includes
some of the developers as well as those who've been using vp since the
1980's (kinda like filePro)!
