I recently picked up my first book on Excel.
One topic covered was the Julian date used. The latest versions except date
between January 1,1900 and December 31,9999 (2,958,465). I wonder is Mr. Gates
really expects MS to be around for Christmas 1/25/9999?
Boy, just before the 10K problem. :)
MS called these numbers "serial numbers" and not Julian Dates.
My feeling is that they chose 1900 as the starting date to keep the serial # at
a reasonable value.
I haven't tested if these numbers can go negative for dates prior to 1900.
