I've been playing with it on OSR 5.0.7.  It seems to convert the
simplest text into a bit image; it'll deliver to a JetDirect, or to
LPD/LPR, or ...

   Examples provided in one of the GUI configuration screens include:

	file:/path/to/filename.prn
	http://hostname:631/ipp/
	http://hostname:631/ipp/port1
	ipp://hostname/ipp/
	ipp://hostname/ipp/port1
	lpd://hostname/queue
	socket://hostname
	socket://hostname:9100

While it isn't one of the examples on that configuration screen,
I see this possibility in the documentation:
	
	parallel:/dev/lp1
