Just wanted to add my second two cents. I agree so much with Nancy. The FP
Room is just a great place for filePro answers and talking about lots of
things. However, the URL above seems chopped off the correct URL for the FP
Room is http://www.tinyurl.com/yuag7
As for the best minds being there... well, I think so... certainly the ones
I've met there so far qualify. As for beginners, last night I spent an hour
or two with a new guy (I'll leave his name blank). He entered the code on
his machine that I showed him through the room. By the end of the short
period, he had learned a whole lot about browse lookups which he had never
used before. (He came from version 3) When we were done, he had written
(and understood) how to do a browse lookup with Add, Modify, Delete, Exit
functions for his projects file. He was adding time records. His comments
were very gratifying... "This is great. Boy this is an amazing program..."
and "I am SO glad I found this place." :-) Makes it all worth while.
As for learning myself... sheesh, I can't even count how many new things I
learned last week in the room. It is a very give and take kind of place. One
of the boys in Australia (Tony Ryder) put up a whole routine for posting
things to Excel. Just what I had been asking for on this list. (I got lots
of answers here, too... thanks everyone!) But on the list we got to discuss
the whole process for long periods of time... until understanding actually
dawns. :-)
See you there.
