Trying to one-up WJV? *laughs uproariously* No offense at all intended,
Jay, but that's gonna be hard. REAL hard. If he didn't read it all as you
did, it was likely because he didn't -want- to, I'd bet. :)
In contrast, I'm not ashamed to say I got on in '89 when just keeping up
with alt.sex was sometimes a several hour long process. :) I gave up on
most of it though.
Now I blow through like 4 groups. a.g.v.sony-playstation2,
a.g.v.nintendo.gamecube, a.tv.s-t.enterprise, and a.c.perlcgi.freelance.
I don't have time to do more than those, even though a good percentage of
three of those are flame threads one can delete.
USENET has gone majorly to hell since the ISP boom around '95. I don't
think it was in the best shape in '89-'93 either, but it was far better.
The more cluebies you let in, the worse it gets.
Hmmm. And they really haven't updated my favourite newsreader (slrn) in
like ages. Pity, as there are changes I'd like to see. :) It's pretty
much the mutt of news reading. Actually, I'd -love- to see a newsmutt, the
mail one is so good.
But I digress...
