We've always gone with all of fP on the server.  With 100MBit
networks, the speed decrease is outweighed by the ease of 
administration.

We don't even put p.exe on the workstation.  Everything goes
on the server.  Read directories to \fp so that nobody can
mess with the setup.  Note that since about 4.5 or so, certain
files in fp\lib require read-write access (memory is vague here, 
but I think it might be \fp\lib\config).  This shouldn't be the
case, but it is.  It came up on the list years ago as a possible
bug, but I believe it was later determined that this was a design
change.
