I have found that with new systems and current network techology it is
not necessary to install the runtime on each client. Keep everything
server side for better control. I have not seen a huge difference in
the speed, for normal data entry functions. However, large posting and
processing functions run faster from the server in this type of
installation.
I have also seen difficulty with version issues, when all but one
program somewhere on the system is not updated and indexing or locking
issues haunt you.
The install will not write a new file over a busy file so be careful
that the system is not in use when updating.
Lastly, if the system has more than 5 clients, I would always recommend
a *inx type server.
>From a download, extract all stuff to a blank folder and hit setup.exe
to start install. It will do all the work and install what you
request.
