No one is *requiring* you to do anything.  But, how are you going to
get a bugfix if you don't get a new version with the bug fixed?

No one is saying you can't get support on earlier 5.0 releases.

Let me get this straight...

You feel you should be able to get bigs fixed, but not have to actually
get the bugfix to correct it?

No one is saying you can't get support if you're on an older 5.0 release.
No one is saying you have to upgrade every client in order to get support.
All I am saying is, if you want to report a bug, make sure the bug hasn't
been fixed already.  As I said, fpsupport often gets files from people
reporting a bug, and they cannot duplicate it.  If you aren't on the
latest version, is the problem because the it's already been fixed, or is
something else involved?

What's so hard about "try it on the latest version, and if it still fails,
let us know"?
