Well, the ~ is highly unlikely to be found unless the text comes in Spanish.
Maybe a grave accent is a better choice.

"unlikely" to be found will bite you unless you make certain
that the delimiter will >never< be found.
Programming for unlikely brings you to the day when something that
has worked for a long time stops working and you spend a lot of
time hunting for the culprit.
