I concur, although the IBM printers are a little large for
convenience stores and other places that need a dedicated barcode printer.
The IBM will also print standard reports, of course.
I like the easy tear-off and label peeling on the IBM 23/24. When
you do a top-of-form, it moves the label up high enough where you can really
get at it.
Another factor is that label stock is cheaper for the IBM's, if you
need a quantity of labels. In this case, Bill indicated he just needs a few
labels a day.
The Eltron has a few advantages, other than being a dedicated label
printer. For example, you have more control over placement of items. It
would be much more tedious to design a complex label on the IBM.
Maybe Bob Rasmussen will release a Linux version of Anzio and
Printwiz, so that Bill can have his cake and eat it, too!
