Oh, don't. Please. It's a sore point. We went through this on the
Babylon 5 moderated group like a month ago, and I finally gave up on trying
to convince them that she was in the wrong and it was a gratuitous suit.
The majority (I only had like one or two people on my side) felt that McD's
was in the wrong for maintining coffee at 180F+, and that the court
documents (which they cited links to relevant portions of) indicated that
medical professionals cited this or that.

Point blank, she was negligent, not them. But as that 'argument' went,
people still err decidedly on the side of stupidity. It's wholly
depressing. Nobody seemed to grasp the idea that -anything- "hot"
(regardless of the degree) should not be opened, in a squishy styrofoam
cup, between one's legs. Duh.

We had a doozy on that one, and it went on to others from there. It's
amazing how much sympathy you can get for being stupid, and how little you
can get for actually being sincerely victimised as opposed to just playing
the victim.

*laugh* Good one. :)

I'd still love to see it challenged. Well, almost. There's a risk every
time you invite challenge, in that we have just as many idiots in office as
we do in the populace, percentage-wise. So there's just as good a chance
that they'll take the wrong side -anyway-, especially if contributions come
into it as far as legislation, or just technical unsavviness in the
judicial system.
