Anyone here familiar with Eudora 6.0 for Windows and authenticated SMTP?
Please respond off-list.
Specifically, our cable modem provider (Optimum Online) is listed in
numerous spam block lists, so using their SMTP servers isn't a viable
solution anymore. Going direct-to-MX (as Laura is currently using) is
blocked by some places either because of being in a dynamic-IP range,
or funky rDNS. We still have the ability to use our dialup ISP's SMTP
server, but because we are not on their dialup line, it will refuse to
relay for us unless we use authenticated SMTP. I was able to easily
configure my Netscape system for this, but I am stumped in how to get
Laura's Eudora to do this properly. (No matter what combination I try,
I always get a failed authentication.)
Note that we are on one ISP (Optimum Online), the SMTP server is another
ISP (BestWeb), and the "from" address is a domain handled by neither
(hvcomputer.com).
