@ud does not register

What you are saying is that if you do a
show "@fileB UD="{fileB(@ud)
after the popup update it does not show today's date?

Or after you exit fileA, and look at the record you updated in fileB and 
it does not show todays's date for that record in fileB?

You don't mean you expect @ud to change for a record in fileA? Do you 
actually change data in fileA?

filePro for AIX doesn't seem to track the same as other unix versions. 
What version are you running?
