I agree with Ken and Bill.

Why would you want to be subjected to a retinal scanner and endanger your 
eye or someone else's eye?

A palm reader prices at around $1,400 and surely a retinal scanner is 
higher cost.

The finger print reader is small and can be moved about at the convenience 
of the 'fingerprintee', high, low, sideways, inverted, left or right and is 
not messy.  Surely, 1 to 2 seconds to read a fingerprint can not be 
considered messing around.  The finger print scanner also could eliminate 
printing badges, mag strip cards, etc.
