Actually, it doesn't eliminate that possibility.  But, given the above
sequence, does it end in:

    almost chicken
    almost egg
    chicken       (chicken came before egg)
    egg
    chicken
    egg
    ...
or
    almost chicken
    almost egg
    almost chicken
    egg           (egg came before chicken)
    chicken
    egg
    ...
