I'd install Mandrake over my dead body. I had to fix so many screwed up
Mandrake systems in their 6.0-6.2 days that I'd never give them another
chance. They were easily -the- worst distribution I've ever used, bar
none. Maybe they've improved, maybe they haven't. I won't give them
another shot though--not when there are other decent options readily
available.
I think anyone who knows me will understand -how- much I distrust Mandrake
when I say -I- would rather run SCO OpenServer than Mandrake Linux.
Mandrake has also been known to pull some boneheaded stunts like denying
access to updates on its site. They were pulling Red Hat and M$
heavy-handed moves before Red Hat even thought about going to the dark
side.
No way in hell I'd go with them just on technical and business grounds.
Add the French connection, and I feel even more strongly about it.
