Actually I wasn't. Adding any significant number > 100 caused the same
problems.
What I did do was (a) build a demand index, (b) delete the automatic
indices, (c) add/update records using the demand index to determine
existing records, while creating new keys, (d) rebuild the automatic
index(es). Of course this was all done with kludgy programs that ran
Profile16/FilePro via pipes.
