Un-expanding(?) a file

If he doesn't mind the extra 7000 blank records sitting in the file,
but merely wants to have all the new records inserted in lower record
numbers, all he has to do is to run the "freechain" option on the file.
After he runs the freechain process, the new records he is adding will go
into the lowest available record slots.
If you let us know what operating system he is running we can give
you more specific instructions about how to do this.
