I neglected to mention . . .

As I see it, site passwords were for developers, so they could
distribute "prc" tables to those they sell apps to.

IMHO, with QuickStart they've lost their usefulness.

Those that develop their own apps in house should have ONE user
who controls access to filePro development, and that user should
be able to insure anyone also privileged to develop filePro apps
_must_ have ABE=ASCII in their environment when doing so.

Setting the permissions and ownership of /etc/default/fppath to
read by all but owned by the head filePro programmer, and with
write permissions by that user only might help.
