System slowdown, DOS version of FP

Joe--can you provide some details:
1) what version of Netware (including service pack)
2) Novell Client32 or Microsoft client (if client32,
what version)
3) are oplocks enabled on the server?
Finally...is there any chance this server has a gigabit
ethernet card in it (if so, what manufacturer and what
is the driver version). I ask only because the symptoms
you describe sound like a very obscure problem that exists
under a certain gigabit ethernet card chipset/driver
combination.
