It appears that a backup key is generated when you start filePro
and that key will allow you to run for a period of time. I *believe* 
it's 14 days, so even if you have to restore to a new drive with a 
different volume ID, you have a few days to get a new key built. It 
takes someone human at fpTech to reset your ability to get a new key, 
but it's not an impossible situation.

One would hope that the methodology to generate keys is in some sort of 
escrow that allow for the release into the public domain in the event of 
the demise of fpTechnologies.
