It bugs me too, only thing worse is people whos only job in the world is to
talk clearly (news reporters) saying "nucular".
Another thing, using the wrong word for simple cases where the word sounds
the same but is completely wrong in meaning is not so much annoying as just
plain makes the writer sound embarassingly ignorant.

I have to be very selectively critical though. I expend just about 0 effort
adhering to proper spelling & grammer in any transient communication (email,
chat rooms, newsgroups). And well, it shows. So I have to make sure this
topic doesn't stray into that area if I want to stay on the right side of
the ignorant loser line :)
