Maybe, maybe not. I am not an alarm expert either. I spoke with my alarm
man and explained it to first Verizon techie who said it need not be
filtered. The second V techie told me it had to be filtered. I explained
it to her, she left and talked to someone and came back and said it did
not have to be filtered.
As was 'splained to me, wire goes to alarm box, through a relay and back
to the phone junction box where the line comes in from outside. I ran a
line for the DSL modem diretly to the phone juction box.
However. I can plug the modem into that line or plug modem into line
that runs all over the house to several rooms and three phones and the
DSL works just the same.
