Strange variable manipulation failure?

Is it just me, or did Kenneth Brody say:

The 4.8.10 I could see then.  But I was told it worked identically on
5.0.14.  They apparently have both.

Yes, well, two problems:

1) They were cast.  (20,*,g) on the variables.

2) It worked fine with dummies but not with declared long-named variables.
