Uhm, Ken? Read what you just wrote. :) Unless he's using SMPTE, which I
know he's not, that doesn't make a bit of sense. He'd need to talk to POP3
or IMAP. I happen to believe/know he's using IMAP nowadays, so I'm going
to be of limited value in helping in that area, as I never learned the raw
IMAP protocol. POP3 I can do blindfolded. But to -read- his mail, he
wouldn't use SMTP. Not sure why you said that. Saturday, I guess.
One interesting thing would be whether the connections in general tend to
hang up. Another interesting bit of helpful information would be whether
Outlook sends or receives first when you tell it to cycle--it's "Send and
Receive"...there's no individual one or the other, unfortunately. But I
doubt it's a problem, as the stock configuration sends immediately rather
than retain messages for later delivery. Highly unusual for anyone with a
continuous net presence.
